Help to shape our profession

Your local dental committee provides an opportunity to network with other local dentists and keep up-to-date with changes in the NHS. We are also here to provide help and support to dentists.

South Cheshire Local Dental Committee:

All LDCs are Statutory Bodies, their role enshrined in legislation (NHS Act 1977 and Health & Social Care Act 2003). We are a democratically elected committee comprising General Dental Practitioners working in the South Cheshire area elected by fellow South Cheshire practitioners. Members serve for a period of 4 years after which they are eligible for re-election.

We offer support and advice to local practitioners and the running of the Committee is funded, in accordance with the law, by the collection of a statutory levy. The LDC has an Executive committee made up of the Chair, Vice Chair, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer and meets 5 times a year. We meet with the other 4 LDCs in the Cheshire & Mersey area and hold regular engagement meetings with NHS England Cheshire & Mersey dental commissioners and are the link between the Government and General Dental Practitioners.
